Steve Bell
Founder, LeanAgileNGO.org
Lean and Agile Thinking for NGOs and Nonprofits
Steve launched LeanAgileNGO.org in 2010 to improve operational excellence and innovation among non-governmental aid organizations (NGOs). The organization’s mission is to help them learn, scale, and spread continuous innovation, improvement, and learning across their locations, programs, projects, and partners. LeanAgileNGO (and its partners) provide a platform for large global NGOS, their frontline teams, and community activists to communicate, learn, share, and grow together. LeanAgileNGO also promotes volunteer engagement from the lean and agile community.
Steve is best known for his former career bringing the lean, agile, and DevOps communities closer together, emphasizing the appropriate role of emerging technologies and their evolution in lean practice. His work focuses on building high-performance teams, problem-solving in a data-intense world, adapting lean and agile management systems and value-stream-based enterprise architecture modeling in an increasingly digital world.
Steve is the author of Lean IT (awarded the Shingo Prize for Research and Publication in 2012), Lean Enterprise Systems, Run Grow Transform, and with his partner Karen Whitley Bell, a contributor to the Shingo Prize-winning Accelerate: The Science Behind DevOps. Steve and Karen are founders of Digital Lean Strategies, LLC (formerly Lean IT Strategies).
